Saturday Style

ImageIt was finally a sunny day, so I decided to make the most of it and take an outfit of the day post outside near the lake. ImageI picked up these shorts in a cute boutique in an arcade in Brisbane City. ImageI live in my thin black Havaianas thongs (flip flops) in summer. ImageImageMy plain white singlet is from Miss Shop in MyerImageMy favourite Oroton sunglasses are never far from my head when I am outside in the sun.ImageLast, but certainly not least is my daily necessities! My Mimco purse (detailed in this post), water, Nivea lip care and of course my iPhone.Image

What is your daily necessity? Mine would be the water and lip balm!

The Cuban Bar and Lounge Dining.

The Cuban is a new Restaurant and Lounge Bar that has opened up in The Oracle, Broadbeach. You can check out their Facebook page, here.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect, the music was at a good level, the lighting was excellent and the set out is practical and looks great. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor and a really sleek but comfortable environment. They have a strong colour theme of red, black, brown and wood.

I went in on a Wednesday night which isn’t a typically busy night. It is easy for a restaurant to seem cool when it is busy, however if a restaurant is cool and has a good atmosphere on a quieter night, you know it is good, going from this, The Cuban is definitely good!

Every dish on their Menu looks delicious, it was really hard choosing what to eat!

For the Entree I had Crispy Calamari served with lime aioli. It was incredible, the Calamari was not oily or greasy and it smelt delicious. The lime aioli complemented the Calamari extremely well and enhanced the flavours nicely.

As a main I had the Spiced Salmon marinated in citrus juices with herbed roast vegetables. Salmon is my favourite food and I have high expectations which is one of the reasons I ordered it, the dish did not disappoint! I like my salmon well done, it is usually cooked medium, because of the extra cooking time, my vegetables cam out cold. I tried them and the flavours were excellent and I was apologised to for the mistake in the cooking time. However it didn’t impact on my dining experience. The salmon on its own had a beautiful flavour and it melted in my mouth. It filled me up without being overfull and bloated. The spices on the salmon were perfect, they weren’t too hot.

I was dying to try the butterscotch profiteroles for dessert, but I was too full after dinner, so they are definitely on my list for next time! I had a really great night out, I would give them a 10 for service, the staff were extremely attentive and polite. I will definitely be back, trying different dishes each time!

If you’re on the Gold Coast I would definitely recommend dining at The Cuban!

What is your favourite Cuban restaurant?

I am so lucky that part of my job is watching fashion shows and keeping up to date with what is going on in the fashion world! These are some of my favourite looks from Australian Designer’s Spring/Summer 2012/2013 ready to wear shows. These photos are all from Vogue.

This Kind of Night.

It dawned on me this afternoon that I have had no real ‘me’ time lately. I get up in the morning and I am straight online on social media and news sites. I then spend the whole day busy with this blog and social media and fashion week and starting to get ready to go back to uni and just life really. I have decided that from now on I will be having some ‘me’ time each day. Ironically it is after 11pm already, however I have lit some of my favourite candles and am ready to relax!

The two candles on the right are from Temple of Light in Byron Bay. It is my favourite shop for candles and dream catchers and unique homewares. The third candle was a gift from my sister. The tea light burner, tea light and melt are all form Party Lite. Party Lite has some amazing candles and accessories and are definitely worth checking out.

What do you do when you need to relax or have some ‘me’ time?

Pretty Little Things.

Here is my first photo collection of pretty little things. I don’t claim ownership of any of these photos, they have all caught my attention. They are all things I like/styling I admire.

I love sequins on anything! I have been style and beauty crushing Whitney Port for years, Sass&Bide and Bardot are also brands I love. What/who is your style inspiration?

Crazy Weather.

It is now into the fourth day of rain on the GC and as weird as it sounds I’m starting to get used to wearing a rain jacket everywhere and having rain and sea salt blow into my face each time I leave the house.

ImageImage
In my rain coat on the top of point danger. I was almost blown away and there was sea foam and foliage debris everywhere.

I will post a fun fashion post later today, this is just to show how crazy it is first hand here without the media spin. What is the craziest weather you have experienced?

Fashion Week Update!

Hello Lovelies!

I can barely contain my excitement for Gold Coast Fashion Week! I knew I would love being a part of it, but I forgot just how much I love being swept up in the fashion world and being a part of fashion week and fashion shows.

Due to contractual negotiations, legal and privacy, I can’t spill anything yet. But I can say it will be an absolutely incredible event, and if there is anyway you can make it I would suggest getting your tickets once they are released, you won’t regret it!

I can say the event is scheduled for September, exact dates coming soon! It is the only official Fashion Week or Fashion Event that will be going ahead on the Gold Coast this year.

Keep your eyes right here on livinglikeannie, also on the official Facebook page and Webpage of Gold Coast Fashion Week to ensure you are the first to know the dates, designers and artists that will be attending!

Which fashion event are you most looking forward to this year?

Best Broadbeach Blend

I went and had a nice relaxed coffee at No Name Lane, a gorgeous specialty coffee shop in the Oracle Towers in Broadbeach.

Image

No Name Lane are a specialty coffee shop serving light meals located just off Elizabeth Street under the Peppers resort buildings. Their coffee did not disappoint, it was smooth and the perfect temperature, and there was next to no wait.

ImageImageImage

The interior was refreshing, the leather pillows against the wooden benches and the brick walls along with the oversize bulb shaped lights was so well put together. The coffee aroma when you walked in along with the excellent customer service has ensured I will be returning again.

This coffee shop is a gem, and definitely worth a try! It was recommended to me and I am grateful it was! What’s your favourite coffee? I am definitely a Latte girl!

OPI Obsession.

We all have an obsession with a beauty product. Mine happens to be nail polish, I love the Maybelline New Work and Rimmel London nail polishes and have many of them, however my OPI collection is the largest.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

You can tell from the pictures the colours I use the most, I am girly and do love my pinks. No nail polish collection is complete without shatter or glitter and dark tones are an absolute must for the cooler months. I also wear darker colours in summer when I am feeling a bit edgy. Remember to keep nails short when wearing dark colours and use a top coat to minimise chipping.

Whats your favourite Nail Polish brand and colour?

Good Morning Gold Coast!

The Gold Coast is stunning especially when you are up at 4.30am to catch the sunrise at 5am. These are some photos I got last week when I watched the Gorgeous Gold Coast sunrise from North Burleigh lookout.

Image

I found this up at the lookout, I love the idea of the engraved locks symbolising relationships.

Where is your favourite spot to catch the sunrise?
